Christine's Biography

Biography Christine Humphreys is a professional Photographer based in Louisville Colorado. Her years of photography experience have resulted in countless award winning photos and numerous photos published in some of the worlds leading publications. Christine Humphreys has gracefully earned her reputation as an award winning Wildlife and Nature photographer. She has been capturing images for over 20 years. She is noted for her creativity in the field: not only in composition and lighting, but also in her use of equipment, blinds, and knowledge of animal behavior. Chris photographs what speaks to her. Driven by passion and love of the natural world and the adventure of exploration and discovery, she photographs the wonders of the smallest of animals, the expanses of the grandest landscapes and the alluring of fleeting wildlife. Chris is a staunch advocate of the protection of our environment. She is an active member of several photography clubs and has competed in many Photography and Magazine contests. Her images have appeared in numerous Local, Regional, National and International publications, books, and calendars. Including but not limited to Outdoor Life Magazine, Audubon Engagement Calendar, California Wild Magazine, California Fish & Game, Outdoor California, Americas Magazine, Children’s Highlights magazine, Rio Nuevo Publishers “West Series Books” along with many others. Chris also presents educational programs and slide shows to many schools, camera clubs, and nature organizations. She has lead personalized photo group workshops/tours and individual one on one instruction for underwater photography and video. Chris has traveled extensively to photograph, and view wildlife, the environment, and animals in their natural habitat. She has spent a considerable amount of time in Alaska during different seasons of the year visiting nearly all the National Parks along the way. Chris spent 12 months in Bonaire shooting underwater photography and video. She has also shot underwater photography in Australia, Fiji, Dominica, Alaska, British Columbia, Galapagos Islands, Turks and Caicos, Belize, Guadeloupe Island, Grand Cayman, Hawaii, California, Florida. She took a year leave in 1990 to travel throughout the North and South Pacific which included Mexico, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia. She has oftened hiked throughout Yosemite, Death Valley, and various other National Parks and Coast lands. Chris has spent almost 4 months photographing animals in several African National Parks including Masai Mara, Kenya; Serengeti, Tanzania, Uganda, and Kruger, South Africa. Chris has also photographed "captive bred" animals to document their life struggle and story. Some of her spectacular shots include the orange sand dunes of Australia, outrageous sunsets, beautiful glaciers, storming mountains, and crashing waves. Her animal photos are among the best in the world. She has the innate ability to capture the emotions and beauty of these spectacular animals in their natural form. Her underwater shots of unbelievably bright corals and colorful fish are breath taking. Chris uses an assortment of Canon digital cameras (40D, 20D & 10D) and Canon lenses, including (600mm4.0, 100-400mm IS 4.5-5.6, 100 macro2.8, 28-70mm 2.8 zoom, 17-35mm 2.8 & 10-28mm 3.5-4.5, 2x & 1.4 tele-converters and extension tubes). Combined that with Gitzo tripods, monopod, and Wimberley Mount and Bogen equipment, Canon 550EX flash and off camera flash bracket and assortment of diffusers. For underwater she uses a Sea & Sea U/W Housing for the 10D camera, YS-120 Strobe, YS-90 Strobe. She always has loved the outdoors and is very active in environmental education and protection.
